extremely short timeout

Not for the first time, I was thrown out after just a few minutes of inactivity. VERY annoying when you are typing a post and have to look up something, or have to attend to something urgent: your complete post is gone and you have to start over, running the same risk. It took me once four(!) tries ...

Crashing QCAD3.4.4 related to .dwg

QCAD 3.4.4, 32 bits, running under LinuxMint 17.3 (I think), recently upgraded to 64 bit. When I open a .dwg file, all seems OK. I can even edit it, but after a while QCAD crashes and closes without a trace. When I do not edit this file but try to save it as .dxf, the same thing happens. When I crea...

Re: QCAD3 quits on startup script, no error msg.

I found a solution for my problem: the Target: field must include a path to the scriptfile following standard Windoze path syntax; so that QCAD can find it. The path to the template in the script file must follow the linux syntax, i.e. use forward slashes instead of the Windoze backward (no pun inte...

Re: QCAD3 quits on startup script, no error msg.

Any chance of a user-defined template being selected as default?
After all, that was what I was trying to achieve...

QCAD3 quits on startup script, no error msg.

Using WInXP, fully up-to-date. Have QCAD3 installed in D:\QCAD Professional\QCAD 3.4.4 and it worked just fine with the quickstart from the desktop. Until I wanted to add a default template, now it quits immedeately after starting up... I followed the recipy from http://www.ribbonsoft.com/rsforum/vi...

Block with predefined layers behaves unexpectedly

In Qcad2, I used a single block with a border, title block and logo block and a bunch of layer definitions to standardize my drawings appearance. Loading that very same block in Qcad 3 gives me the border, title block and logo but none of the other (not yet used) layers. Starting a new drawing while...

Re: Grid unusable at some zoomlevels

You hit it, spot on. Most of my drawing is done in the early development phase, the phase where the drawing itself is a jumble of assembly and part views, cross sections etc; when shapes, sizes and distances are not yet fully defined and often need tweeking by 0.1mm or so (I develop small machinery,...

Re: Grid unusable at some zoomlevels

My problem is not the highest density, but rather the lowest: the dots are too far apart to be useful... scale up the grid by factor 10 This factor could be replaced by a 1-2-5 sequence as used in electronic measurement equipment like scopes (why would they use that ). Forcing the grid spac...

Re: Grid unusable at some zoomlevels

Just experimented a lot in v3.1.2 under windows and found these two things about the grid: changing the minimal grid spacing requires a program restart to become effective, there is no mention of this. the number of wheel clicks required for the gridspacing to change is still 13, the grid is still u...

Re: how do I create offset hatches?

... The best solution I can think of is to use two different patterns that are defined as being offset by 50% from each other. That is what I wanted to do, but I found it impossible to add a pattern. I researched the .pat file format and created these two (named _general.pat and _general_offset.pat...

how do I create offset hatches?

An utter deja-vue experience... http://www.ribbonsoft.com/rsforum/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=1186 This file test.dxf is made with Qcad 2, following the instructions from the old post. Open it in Qcad 2 and you see what is meant. Just in case, here is a screenshot: test.PNG Opening it in Qcad 3 does not yie...

[solved] Versions 2 and 3 on the same machine?

After a viral blow-out of my OS (WinXP) I must re-install everything and wonder if I can install both Qcad2 and Qcad3 on the same machine... I have tried Qcad3 once, but reverted back to Qcad2 at the time because some new features were too confusing to get the job done in time. Job done, new hardwar...
