Is there a way to use your system with parametric data from a database or will I need to write a translator? I assume that the DXF file is the native drawing system. Since it is just ascii I can create a post processor that will create the drawings from the database.
Also do you have an educational price? I am an instructor in a technical college and am thinking about using your system for classes.

For the current QCAD version (2.x), producing DXF output is probably the best solution to interact with QCAD.
QCAD 3 (end of 2010 / beginning of 2011) will offer a very powerful scripting interface which allows you to access SQL databases among other things.
