Isolate objects [SOLVED]

Post by arun » Thu Mar 21, 2024 9:16 am

Is it possible to isolate objects (and hide all the other objects) similar to 'Show Only Active' in Layers

Thanks,
Arun

'Objects' as in objects or as in drawing entities or as in blocks ...
Most things are objects in a lower level ... Even layers, layer states, views, viewports, ... or common entities.

The answer would be NO for individual drawing entities ...
One can isolate selected entities on a newly created layer but that is not listed as a Layer tool.
See Property Editor when selected and click the button on the right of the layer name field.
Then opt for 'Move Selection to New Layer' (YI).
Or directly use the shortcut YI with a selection.
Then one can exploit 'Show Only Active' (YO).
Downside: New layer attributes may differ unless you duplicated the original first.

One can cut/copy over with reference (RT/RC) a single entity to a new temporary document, use (0.0, 0.0) as reference for example.
In that case the layer is retained with proper attributes.
Delete it in the source before you bring back the (edited) copy.

A block content can be edited individually when set active in the Block List.
A collection of entities can be converted to a Block, see menu Block .. Create Block from Selection (BC).
Or directly use the shortcut BC with a selection.

CVH
