Another question. Many of the drawings I'll be dealing with are in AutoCAD Electrical 2011 or 2013 format. While I don't plan to make a lot of changes to these drawings (not sure what that would do to the Electrical db info), I would like to review and print them quickly. I noticed that of the drawings I've opened so far, the more Electrical components that are on the sheet, the slower QCAD responds (like ~15 seconds to open the file, ~10 seconds to change to print preview). I have an i7 3630QM @2.4GHz and 24GB of RAM, so I shouldn't be hardware-limited.
Are there settings I can change to help improve the speed when working with these drawings?
Thanks,
-Brad

Re: Tips to speed-up operations?
Yes, there are some settings to improve performance:
- Draft mode: View > Draft mode
- Edit > Application Preferences > Graphics View > Appearance > Performance:
- increase 'Text height display threshold (px)'
- increase 'Display arcs as lines below this angle (degrees)'
- Draft mode: View > Draft mode
- Edit > Application Preferences > Graphics View > Appearance > Performance:
- increase 'Text height display threshold (px)'
- increase 'Display arcs as lines below this angle (degrees)'
Re: Tips to speed-up operations?
Wow, that makes a big difference.
Can you set Draft Mode to be the default so that all dwgs are opened in draft mode? Opening the DWGs still takes 20 - 30 seconds.
Also, I could not find this setting in my version (v3.3.0.0):
"
- Edit > Application Preferences > Graphics View > Appearance > Performance:
...
- increase 'Display arcs as lines below this angle (degrees)'
"
Thanks,
-Brad

No not currently, but you can add a feature request for itBAJ wrote:Can you set Draft Mode to be the default so that all dwgs are opened in draft mode? Opening the DWGs still takes 20 - 30 seconds.

For the best support please state your operating system, QCAD version and add any supporting DXF/DWG files, screenshots etc...
