How to match end angle of a curve to start angle of a next

Post by Madamhatarozo » Mon Oct 20, 2014 7:18 pm

Hi,
could someone pls tell me how to automatically match the end angle of a curve section to the start angle of the next?
My father is doing some work with a cutting machine that uses qcad and he doesnt speak english.
The machine just stops at curve ends where there is this mismatch (so everywhere). Correcting by hand takes a lot of time.
Thanks in advance.

Hello Madamhatarozo - welcome to the Forum!

Could you please attach an example dxf or dwg which shows the problematic. It's easier to explain.
Work smart, not hard: QCad Pro
Win10/64, QcadPro, QcadCam version: Current.

Hi Husky,
thanks for the quick response.
Sorry i didnt react earlier, our internet has been down.
I attached an example file with the drawing of a letter b.

Thanks in advance, any help is appreciated.

edit: the wish is to have the curves kind of "smoothed" into each other...

Hello Madamhatarozo,

thanks for the example drawing.

I checked the drawing but honestly I can't really find a reason why a cnc cutter should stop at this slightly geometrical incorrect curve transitions. It is still an easy to follow shape - it should not be a problem for a cnc machine.
Do you create the g-code with QCAD CAM? Or do you use/need something else ..... I'm not sure. Please tell me.

Back to your question: Sorry but if you have to fix a shape like this "b" there is no magical button in QCAD to get it automatically and fast fixed ...
... but if you have to design a shape by yourself it is not a problem to create everywhere a geometrical correct and smooth transition. But that was not your question ...

Anyway - I changed your drawing into polylines. Please use this new drawing for a test with the cutting machine and tell me what happens at the curve transitions in question.

Thanks Husky,

unfortunately, the CNC does not accept polylines, can't seem to recognize the plan / commands.
My father got the drawings from the client and cannot get them in proper form, he is fixing them manually.
They are not using CAM and knowing the bosses and situation, paying for it is not an option at the moment. If the company survives the year, my father will investigate this CAM to see if they should buy it.

Thanks again for your helpfulness!

Hi Madamhatarozo

What type of machine is your father using?
For the best support please state your operating system, QCAD version and add any supporting DXF/DWG files, screenshots etc...
