QCAD Portable

Post by andrew » Tue Oct 21, 2014 7:59 am

From a QCAD user:
Can I install and use QCAD on a portable medium such as a USB stick and run it on different computers without needing to install it or change the configuration of those computers?

Yes, QCAD has a -config command line switch which allows you to specify the location where configuration files are stored. Let's say QCAD is installed on a USB stick with drive letter "F" under a Windows system. You can start your QCAD for example like this:

Code: Select all

F:\QCAD\qcad.exe -config F:\config
You could also create a shortcut or a batch file on the USB stick that launches QCAD like this automatically. Note that the drive letter is likely different on another Windows machine though.
