How do I scale up a print?
In print preview the largest scale in the pull down menu seems to be 1"=1". I have been searching the forum and can't see how to enlarge the scale so I can get a usable print of a very small part. I can of course simply MODIFY and SCALE the drawing but then all the dimensions will be wrong.
Thank you in advance,
Dan

Re: How do I scale up a print?
Hello Dan - thanks for this question!
Long story short - it should work! But I challenge the same problem like you to use a scale in common with 2" = 1" etc.
Basically: If you need a scale which is not provided by the Pull-down menu you can just overwrite the numbers and it will work as expected.
In this case - imperial dimensions - it doesn't works.
Workaround for the moment:
Try to make it working with a scale like 3:1 instead of 3" = 1".
@Andrew,
could you please check this, thank you!

Hi guys,
Looks like you did not pull the menu down far enough!

Hi J-J, you caught me!J-J wrote:Hi guys,

Thanks!
But that means: If I need a scale of 2" = 1" I can't just write it in - QCAD will not accept this.
I have to use an equivalent expression which would be 24" = 1'-0", right?
And there is no way to use a scale of 2.7" = 1" because I'm forced for bigger scales to use an inch/foot relation and not an inch/inch relation , correct?
On the other hand - an inch/inch relation for the smaller scales are provided and they are changeable and it's not a problem to change them to my personal need like 1" = 2.7"
In short:
1" = 2" works,
2" = 1" not working,
1" = 2.7" works,
2.7" = 1" not working,
Thats not really convenient ....
P.s.: I'm confused and I love the Metric system!!!! Did I lost somebody ....?

Hi Husky
When I was working in the US in the 80's, I taught the metric system to my American colleagues, they found it so easy to work with that they quit using the inch system!

Re: How do I scale up a print?
Hi again,
I don't see why it should not work, because the scale does care what the unit is as long as it is consistent, i.e. inch to inch!In short:
1" = 2" works,
2" = 1" not working,
1" = 2.7" works,
2.7" = 1" not working,

Did you test it?J-J wrote:I don't see why it should not work, because the scale does care what the unit is as long as it is consistent, i.e. inch to inch!
Maybe you can proof me wrong - but first try this one:
Test drawing:
Rectangle / same size like the Paper size
I need just to print the ellipse what would be a scale of 2" = 1".
Please show me how I can use the scale 2" = 1" (true to character - nothing else)

Re: How do I scale up a print?
Hi Husky,
Well, I typed 2:1 in the scale window, then I hit the print button and the print out is indeed printed at 2:1, what you see on the screen is the ellipse filling the paper size...there does not seem to be the 2:1 in the drop down list of scales, it mixes feet and inches! go metric!
