Lines with flat ends instead of round ends, line weight

Post by andrew » Fri Sep 18, 2015 2:51 pm

From a QCAD user:
When drawing thick lines, those lines have round ends and joins. Can I use flat ends and angled joins instead (e.g. for use in a PCB layout)? And can I draw lines with a custom line width?

Line widths (or line weights) are generally not intended to represent a part of the geometry of an object. Line weights are typically used to indicate the function or visibility of a line (a thin dashed line might represent a hidden edge, a thick continuous line a visible edge, etc). The available line widths are limited to the ones available as part of the DXF/DWG specification.

Having said that, starting with the upcoming QCAD version 3.11, QCAD Professional will support custom, exact line widths for polyline segments. Such polyline segments will be rendered with flat ends, trimmed at joints if possible and can have any desired width:
