I have release 3.12.1 of Qcad Pro installed.
There is an upgrade for Qcad that I would like
to install. Does the whole system get completely
install during the processes.

Yes, an update is a complete new package.
The recommended procedure to update is:
- Keep the current version installed
- Download and install the new version (it will be installed into a new directory, not affecting the previous version in any way)
- Start using the new version
If there are any problems with the new version, you can always revert to the previous version which is still installed.
