Re: Gears, cogwheels
QCAD itself does not have any special functions for drawing gears.
However, there are some useful websites with online tools or software for gear construction with DXF interface, for example:
GearDXF
- Free software for Windows
- Entries in inches or metric
http://www.forestmoon.com/software/GearDXF/ Gear Template Generator
- US $ 26 for Windows and Linux (Wine)
- Metric input
http://woodgears.ca/gear/index.html Involute Spur Gear Builder
- Free Online Tool

InkScape has a gear tool. Not many option though and you need to import the SVG into QCad. But it works.

Thanks for that hint 0xdeadbeef. I wasn't aware of that.
Re: Gears, cogwheels
I use GearDXF a lot. Actually, there is the option to create metric output. Just click on the "Standard" drop-down menu and you are presented with a choice of Standard (imperial) or Metric. Simple!
