Hi all!
I am new to QCad so maybe one of you can help.
I created an Object aproximatele 210 cm in height. Unfortunately only 50 cm are really of interest (to show mounting holes) an 5 cm of the other end. Thus 150 cm are not worth displaying it at all. Can I "slice" 150 cm and replace it with a placeholder to indicate "this ... is 150 cm in real" but is not shown in the drawing, which makes handling far easier?
I made a simple dxf to hopefully explain it a little better. Please see the orange dimensions: to 60 should be shown as 2000 if possible
Thanks in advance
Jens

Hello Jens - welcome to the forum!
You can use the Property Editor to put a manual value into this dimension.
Launch the Property Editor below Menu / View
Select the Dimension,
Change the Value for "Label" - done!

Re: Display Long lines in a shortend way?
Many thanks!
Correct me if I am wrong, but this just affects the label, right? The DXF is still refering 60 (6 cm) internally, so I can not use it for further processing by (e.g.) a laser-cutter, as the dimension is only visually right, but physically wrong. I am looking for a way to get rid of "unimportant" areas but without corrupting the real lengths.

That is correct! This procedure is meant for human beings - not for cnc machines.jensbreitenstein wrote: ... so I can not use it for further processing by (e.g.) a laser-cutter, as the dimension is only visually right, but physically wrong.
If you need to keep up the 1:1 functionality of the drawing for further processing - whats about to work with the "View List" in QCad? That is a kind of predefined Zooms on your drawing. Predefine the important views in your drawing and just jump in this list from one view to another view.
You can launch the View List below Menu / View / View List
