From a QCAD user:

It takes a very long time for QCAD to retrieve directories and files from a network drive. How can I speed this up?

I am also having the same problem. I have upgraded Qcad about three times this year with same issue. I am on Windows 7, Qcad version 3.10.0.0. Mapped network drive is accessed by three Windows 7 computers and they all have the same issue. I access the NAS drive with only one Qcad at a time. Sometimes takes 1 minute to read and/or write to the network drive. Other apps that I use (Draftsight, Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, etc.) read/write very quickly to NAS as normal.

Qcad reads/writes normal speed to local drive. Can this PLEASE be addressed?

Thanks,
Brad

Seeing this too, I did some network sniffing: Opening a directory with eight entries, no subdirectories, in windows explorer gives 130 packets on the wire; opening another such directory in qCAD file browser makes for 600 packets - That may explain the difference in access speed. As a matter of fact, LAN is slower than ftp to the other side of the world.

Now, what does QT do different from explorer? A quick web-search turned up nothing…

Today, I've uploaded 64bit packages for Windows which link against Qt 5. This might improve the situation with the file dialog. Please let me know if that is or is not the case.

I upgraded to 3.12.4.1 and opened some files on my NAS drive. Holy Cow, no more waiting! It's fixed!

Thanks so much!
