Printing/exporting scaling issue
Using QCAD 3.15.4 64 bit on Windows 10 x64.
Ran into a strange problem and spent some time trying to figure out a workaround as I really needed the drawing! What seemed to happen was if I set the paper unit to 'inches', and checked/adjusted the paper size appropriately, QCAD would be unable to fit the drawing to the page. The printing scale became 1:1, although I'm not sure what unit it was scaling to as the result page was maybe 1/10" (on the drawing's scale). If I changed the paper unit back to millimetres and fixed the paper size accordingly, the auto fit function worked as expected and I could get the drawing out. FWIW the drawing was scaled in feet and was roughly 40'x45'.
So am I doing something wrong here? Is this a bug?

Re: Printing/exporting scaling issue
Hi TwistedKestrel - welcome to the forum,
Basic Info: If you change the Unit it will not change the scale of the drawing. That is something what you have to do manually. You have then to scale the drawing accordingly to the Unit change.
To help you effectively we need the drawing or an example drawing. If not confidential you can post it here otherwise a PM would be OK.TwistedKestrel wrote: What seemed to happen was if I set the paper unit to 'inches', and checked/adjusted the paper size appropriately, QCAD would be unable to fit the drawing to the page.

Re: Printing/exporting scaling issue
Right, I'm not changing the units or the scaling of the drawing itself - just the units for paper/printing. This is of course very minor as I am not printing on anything other than standard paper and so can live with it set to millimeters just fine. I changed the drawing back to the 'broken' settings before I attached it.

Re: Printing/exporting scaling issue
Hi,
your Glue Margins settings are 10" each. Try to reset this with the "Set to Printer Margins" Button. Then try the Print Preview again - is it now working as expected?

Re: Printing/exporting scaling issue
That seems to work as expected.
I don't understand... is that a problem?Husky wrote:You are working with the "QCAD Community Edition"???!
Re: Printing/exporting scaling issue
No, that isn't a problem at all and the support from as would be the same like the support for the Pro Version. The problem is that you posted your question in the QCAD Professional sub-forum what means I invested my time to help you in the wrong Program Version ...TwistedKestrel wrote:I don't understand... is that a problem?

Re: Printing/exporting scaling issue
OK, I'm having a similar problem. I'm using QCAD Professional 3.15.5. I cannot scale a print to look at all readable. I noticed that the units displayed on the Application Window changed at some point (I did not notice when that happened). They were initially displayed in feet (the drawing is roughly 700 ft. by 450 ft.). The units, at first, displayed "x ft- y in". Now, units are displaying "1000, 2000...9000". I assume those (apparently unitless) numbers are inches. Before that change took place, I was able to scale and print nice prints. Maybe the unit change is coincidental and unrelated to the printing problem. I have tried every Drawing Preference change I can find, but cannot get drawing to "go back" to ft-in display. Thanks for any suggestions. File is attached.

Re: Printing/exporting scaling issue
alcpe: Your drawing unit is set to "None". Check Edit > Drawing Preferences > General > Drawing Unit:
Then check your dimension settings:
After that, the drawing will likely also print fine.Re: Printing/exporting scaling issue
OK, thanks. I'll check those settings. I suppose there is not a way to have the drawing display "500 ft." rather than "6000" (with no units indicated)?
Re: Printing/exporting scaling issue
Oh wait! Yes, those settings fixed everything!!
