text layer query

Post by rwuest » Sat Jan 09, 2010 3:15 am

I can't find any way to tell me what layer some text is on. How do you do that? Modify attributes doesn't tell the current attribute values.

In fact, modify properties is exactly the same as modify text!

You can use the property editor for this. Enable this widget with:

View - Toolbars - Property Editor

- Select the entity of which you want to know the layer.
- Look in the property editor for the property "Layer"

You can also use the property editor to quickly change the layer and other properties of all selected entities.

Thanks, that works.

It doesn't show the width of a line.

Entity attributes (width, color, line style) should be controlled "by layer" always. Assigning attributes to entities directly is strongly discouraged but nevertheless possible (though not through the property editor at this point).
