This ‘Workaround’ tip is based on Andrews post –

viewtopic.php?f=32&t=1861

To print only a selected area of a drawing – (method works on black/or white background)
The original drawing ‘crazy mess’ was drawn on 5 layers of different colours.

Method:
1.Create drawing on your designated layer (1st image).
2.Create new layer – ‘overlay’ with colour set to white.
3.Working on layer overlay – draw a polyline/rectangle around only the area you want to print.
4.Draw another polyline/rectangle around the whole drawing.
5.Select both polylines/rectangles and from main menu > Draw > Hatch > create a solid fill
(2nd Image).

*Note you may need to move this layer to the front – Modify > Bring to front.

6. Switch to print preview and adjust the scale/offset (you can temporarily turn off layer overlay
If you need to).
Make sure that white is printed as white and not black – Edit > Preferences > Graphics View and untick -
'Auto correct black and white colours '.

*This is important otherwise you will get a black overlay instead of white.
