How to drwa with qucad

Post by sfinxx » Wed Sep 23, 2009 2:28 pm

I feel a bit clumsy trying to get qucad to work for me. I do not
seem to be able to do the simplest yet most important thing: draw.

This is very strange for me. I'm used to working with computers.
I think I understand the basic concepts of cad, like coordinates,
layers, entities and objects ... Qcad is supposed to be easy to
learn even for beginners I heard. And indeed it looks very clean and clear.

I'm using qcad1, because I do not like the backgrund being
black. I was unable to find out, whether that can be changed to white
in qcad2. And then I feel I cannot really find out if a program
works for me, if it stops working every ten minutes. I don't like
trial versions with restricted functionality. So I use qucad1 as a trial.

I read every manual I could find and looked at a number of tutorials. But I simply cannot draw - well apart from squares, rectangles
and circles in qcad1. And even if I succeed I can't do it in the
place I want. I simply do not know where to click (I don't mind
working with the commandline but I do not like it since I'm very
bad in typing.) I clicked around a lot trying to find out by
trial and error - but did not succeed.

It can't be really difficult - I'm sure. You just got to know.

But I could not find some handson practical guide which shows me
every single click necessary step by step in how to get started.
I'm very sorry about that because cquad looks really nice.

I did find something similar to what I'm looking for. But that
was a tutorial for Autocad. I do not want to become a
professional in cad. I just want to do some jobs which should not
be to complicated - like e.g. a floor plan for the new rooms I'm
going to move to shortly.

Where can I find this kind of information? Can anyone help? It won't
be to great an effort - I promise.

Not a good idea. QCAD 1 is fundamentally different from QCAD 2 (read 'more difficult to use'). To change the background color in QCAD 2: Edit - Application Preferences - Colors - Drawing Background.

See above. A QCAD 2 tutorial will not work for QCAD 1.

That would be the QCAD book (for QCAD 2, not 1):

http://books.google.com/books?id=5X7rLm ... q=&f=false

An AutoCAD tutorial will not work for QCAD 1 or 2.
