Laying out rectangles inside another

Hello all,
first post. I've been messing with qcad and searching the web to see if I can use it to optimize layout of various rectangles inside another rectangle before I cut my wood. I'm sure this is probably dealt with somewhere but I can't find any reference to that sort of problem. If somebody could possibly point me in the right direction I'd be most grateful
