Scripting

Post by Antsmarch » Sun Feb 28, 2010 7:15 am

I have only used Qcad for limited projects and have not taken the time to learn scripting for Qcad nor for Autocad. I use mostly solidworks in my day to day work as a mechanical engineer, but for home I use both varicad and qcad to accomplish hobby projects.

Does the QCAD book offer any instruction on scripting? If so, will this scripting module differ in future versions of Qcad?

Thank you

No, scripting is not covered since the book is targeting beginners of CAD / QCAD.

Future versions of QCAD (version 3, later this year) will offer a much more powerful scripting interface that gives access to practically the full API of QCAD and the underlying Qt framework. We're also planning a book for advanced users / script developers that will cover scripting.
