Problem installing on Linux ('GLIBCXX_3.4.14' not found)

Post by ambra » Sat Aug 27, 2011 9:40 am

qcad-trial-bin requires gcc-4.4.4, but I have gcc-4.4.5, so QCAD fails to start.

QCAD should require major GCC versions (gcc-4.4.x), and not revisions.

Can this be fixed in final release?

Deployment on Linux systems is certainly not straightforward and it will likely take a couple of iterations to get a binary that runs on most systems. It might even take multiple binaries / packages. We tried to cover the major distributions first (Ubuntu, OpenSUSE, Fedora). Other distributions will follow, in order of their popularity for desktop use.

I've uploaded alternative packages for (X)Ubuntu 10.04, Debian 6 and some other Linux distributions which are not compatible with the regular QCAD packages.
Please check your download area for the packages called 'Linux (Alternative)' if you are using one of these distributions or the current packages show errors such as:

Code: Select all

/usr/lib/libstdc++.so.6: version `GLIBCXX_3.4.14' not found
Or:

Code: Select all

I/O error : No such file or directory
/usr/share/mime/inode/directory.xml:1: parser error : Extra content at the end of the document
