I often have an unusual program crash when switching to print preview and back several times.
The first click on print preview shows no reaction. On the second click, ok.
After two or three changes, a program crash suddenly appears after a few seconds.
Even with an empty document.
I work on Win 10 with i7-10700KF (not overclocked), GeForce RTX 2070 super,
EPSON ET-2820 Series (Microsoft IPP Class Driver) and with QCAD 3.28.1.0.
Up to now I have worked with 3.17.xx (without problems) and upgraded to QCAD 3.28.1 yesterday 06/19/2032.
I find the program very good and have always been able to draw my private projects well and efficiently on paper.
But I can't work with this error.

'Often' meaning all the time or at random?
What happens if you use the shortcut (Ctrl+Shift+P) instead of the tool button?
That way you avoid sending more than one mouse button click.
I suspect that with 'After two or three changes' you mean activating (twice if required) print preview and closing it with the 'Close Print Preview' button.
Or are you drawing extra things while in print preview mode?
Have you de-installed 3.17.xx before installing 3.28.1?
Sometimes starting from a clean slate may solve weird problems.

I've tried it now with the shortcut. The error is the same.
Now I also found out that if I 35s after the first click
wait, it switches to print preview. After that, the program remains stable.
If I don't wait and click a second time in these 35s it changes too,
but crashes after 35s. :-(
Does my system have a problem loading add-ons?
I had removed version 3.17.xx cleanly (including all qcad keys in the SysReg file).
I also upgraded to win11 tonight and the error is the same.

In think not ... Most tools are addons ... Are scripts.
Now I also found out that if I wait 35s after the first click, it switches to print preview. After that, the program remains stable.
It might be that QCAD needs 35s to render the print preview of your drawing ...
How large is that file? DXF or DWG?
Hatch entities with many details or at a very small scale?
Are there so called 'massive blocks'?
...
Can you zoom in/out without noticeable delays?

There seems to be a problem in my system (printer driver).
In desperation, I called "Troubleshooting > Printer" and lo and behold!
It's the first time since I've known Windows (3.x) that this has brought about a positive change. But not very successful!
After switching to the print preview for the first time - after starting the program - the preview now appears in 2s (previously 35s). After that it stays stable and switches without delay.
However, if I can't wait in these 2s and click a second time ;-) it breaks off again in 35s.
But I can (have to) live with that.
