Every time I leave QCAD open for a few minutes, and my computer enters power-saving mode (turning off the monitor), QCAD becomes unresponsive upon returning. The only way to recover is to kill the process and restart QCAD forcefully.
Steps to reproduce:
- Open QCAD.
- Leave it idle for a few minutes until the system enters power-saving mode (the monitor turns off).
- Wake up the system and try to interact with QCAD.
Expected result:
QCAD should remain responsive after the system wakes up.
Actual result:
QCAD becomes wholly unresponsive and must be forcefully closed and restarted.
System information:
- QCAD version: 3.32.2 (and many older versions)
- Operating system: Ubuntu 24.04
Additional notes:
- The issue occurs consistently.
- No error messages are displayed.
- Other applications remain responsive after waking up the system.

Unfortunately it’s very unlikely that we can fix this as it seems to be a problem between Qt and your particular setup. QCAD does not do anything when a system goes to power safe mode or wakes up, this is all handled on a much lower level.
Please contact us for a refund.
In steps to reproduce:
'Leave it idle for a few minutes'
Perhaps already a solution to turn idle after a longer period.
Like 1/2 hour.
