FS#1843 - Creating ToolPath Stalls

Hi Andrew,

Still working with and on CAM HPGL for the HP7580 pen plotter.

I have added a penplotter test drawing, that might be used for testing en callibrating plotter and pens. You may add it to the Examples-directory.

QCAD has a lot of trouble creating toolpaths and exports. Much too often it shuts itself down, or gets stalled. Why? I am not sure.

Please attach the DXF file.
If you are using 3.21.3 (3.21.3.0), you might want to download the latest snapshot 3.21.3.14.

Sorry, when closing Bugtracker the attached files were lost, cause I forgot the bug tags fields

Qestion; Before I placed the bug I check for the latest Release.
QCAD confirmed I am used the lastest one (3.21.3.0)

So Yes, I want to download the latest release.

Snapshot releases are not official releases. QCAD will not show you that there is a new release for snapshots. You can find snapshot releases in your download area under "Snapshots".

News snapshot releases are also announced at:
http://www.qcad.org/rsforum/viewforum.php?f=16

Nice, I have found the email. However I cannot acces 'my download' for a snapshot release,
because the screen blanks at a php page.

I've double-checked your link and it seems to be working fine here. Can you please try again, perhaps using a different browser or reloading the page?

H. Stiekema commented on 08.01.2019 14:34

Re- and reloading page over again. No effect.
Mozilla should be fine.

Please click the download link. That's the long link under the text "Download link for QCAD/CAM Professional".

Accounts, etc. have been retired as part of our GDPR efforts. Always use the download link to access your downloads. This does not require a login / password, etc.

I have updated to QCAD 3.21.3.14. (All Ribbonsoft website-links are ok now.)

Testing the Pen plottertest.DXF to generate a PLT file.

This time it stalled on regenerating profile 3.

On System Monitor I noticed QCAD-activity as switching between "disk sleep" and 1% activity.

This time I also noticed a QCAD autosave. Could this halts regenerating toolpath?

Anyway, the mouse becomes extreemly slow, so a Power switch reset was required.

I couldn't reproduce that problem here so far. Please note that regenerating and exporting all toolpaths in that file does take about a minute here.
Can you confirm that you have waited that long?
Is that on a Kubuntu Linux system? 32bit or 64bit?

H. Stiekema commented on 09.01.2019 16:32

Good and a releave to hear that QCAD should not be that slow.

Yes, I do have some patience, my wife gets annoyed by it sometimes.

I am using a kubuntu system 64 bit dual core. (see attached pdf)

Are you testing it on a real Kubuntu system, or on a virtual machine?
