Re: Rotating an object when I don't know the exact angle to rotate [SOLVED]

Thanks for the pointer, I'll have to look into it. It looks like it might just work out better.

Re: Rotating an object when I don't know the exact angle to rotate

OK, I've got it now. I was expecting to specify the points as soon as I clicked the specify by points button. It didn't occur to me that I should click the OK button to proceed to the next step. Thanks for helping me extract my head from my...oh, never mind.

Re: Rotating an object when I don't know the exact angle to rotate

I've got a situation where I want to rotate several objects by an angle I don't know, but I can locate the center and the start and end points of the rotation. Is there a command in QCAD that allows me to do this? Yes - you can use the mouse cursor to define the angle: Select the entities, launch t...

I'm using QCAD Pro 3.23. I've got a situation where I want to rotate several objects by an angle I don't know, but I can locate the center and the start and end points of the rotation. Is there a command in QCAD that allows me to do this? I've poked around in the modification menu, but haven't found...

Re: QCad pro 3.24.2 won't run after fresh install of Linux Mint 20

I looked for "plugins/xcbglintegrations" and couldn't find it, but found "xcbglintegrations" in the "opt/qcad-3.24.2-pro-linux-x86_32/" directory. If first deleted it. and ran QCAD, but no joy. Then I thought maybe the "xcbglintegrations" directory belonged in the plugins directory, so I placed it b...

Re: QCad pro 3.24.2 won't run after fresh install of Linux Mint 20

Well, that didn't help either. I added the path to the libraries to LD_LIBRARY_PATH at line 9 og the qcad script and this was the result of running the script: [email protected]:~/opt/qcad-3.24.2-pro-linux-x86_32$ ./qcad QCAD version 3.24.2 Fatal: This application failed to start because it could not fin...

[solved] QCad pro 3.24.2 won't run after fresh install of Linux Mint 20

I've just upgraded my machine to Linux Mint version 20 (Ulyana) XFCE by doing a fresh install. After completing the install I reinstalled QCAD Pro 3.24.2 and attempted to run it from the start menu, but received no response. I did the same from the terminal and receive the following: [email protected]:~/...

Thanks. I found these tools shortly after I posted this an then soon discovered the bug you mentioned. I'll download the latest version and give it a spin.

Constructing an arc through a point tangent to two lines

In the attached graphic, I want to construct an arc that passes through the intersection of the line and arc at point C and is tangent to the lines A and B. The line passing through point C is the bisector of lines A and B, so I know the center of the arc will lie on this line, but I can't seem to f...

Blocks on multiple layers

Is it possible to have the entities in a block created on one layer assume the layer and characteristics of the layer upon which it is placed? I have a drawing in which I'm assigning color and line weight by layer. I'd like to have a given block assume those characteristics based upon the layer upon...

Placing dimensions in accordance with a tolerance block

It's been a while for me, but during my working life we always used a tolerance block on our engineering drawings (see http://gdtseminars.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/05/gentol.jpg as an example). This of course requires that I be able to place dimensions with varying numbers of decimal places on a d...

Re: Merging drawing border with existing drawing

Yes, I was able to resize the viewport, fiddle with the scale and have made my seed file my default template.

I now understand what's going on with these useful tools and how to use them properly.

Again thanks for the help.
