Re: Real time versioning system

Hi We use M-files here for all our backup and automatic versioning. It is not open-source and unfortunately only runs on the Win platform. But man it is such a good piece og software, it has a price but for the features the price is very reasonable. We handle all our CAD and project documentation in...

Templates get deleted on uninstall

Hi The latest versions of QCAD removes my custom templates on uninstall. I have created a symlink to my templates folder into the original qcad folder. mklink /D "c:\Program Files\QCAD\libraries\templates" "F:\TEGNINGER\QcadLibrary\Templates" It did not do this prior to version 3.12 The reason I do ...

Re: Focus edit field on tool

Can see this is part of the next release.

Awesome, really love the developers listening to the users.
So many good things have been added since I've started using Qcad.

Keep up the good work and you will have a paying customer for a long time.

Focus edit field on tool

Hi So pretty basic. When for example wanting to make a circle with diameter I press "CA" it would be nice if the edit field for the diameter would be on focus. Now I have to "CA" move mouse to the field and click the field and then edit or press "Meta+Space". With the feature I could go "CA" and the...

Yes! And indeed, there it is :D (bottom right of the library browser window):
Well stupid me :-)

Although you hid that button away nicely there at the bottom corner, my eyes haven't even drifted that way :-)

Re: Message for Andrew

Hi Andrew What exactly is slow on your installation (updating the index, searching for items, the display, ...)? If you are referring to the synchronisation when QCAD is started, you can switch that off (and opt to sync manually) under: Edit > Application Preferences > Widgets > Library Browser > Up...

Re: Message for Andrew

Hi Not do discard algrass. I have the completely opposite feel about Autocad and Qcad. Coming from Autocad, but wanted something less bloated. The first week was a little tough, but after getting over that initial "Well this is different". I can honestly say I'm more productive with Qcad than I was ...

Re: What do people use QCAD for?

Pro version here.

Using i primarily for plant installation drawings and also for cleaning up dxf files for cutting with laser or plasma cutters.

Also great for prototyping before going 3D.

We also have Autocad, but I rarely use it, it has become too bloated for a 2D Cad tool IMO.
