I have read it.
It's a great help for someone who is not used to work with CAD programs.
However, learning from scratch is still some work.
The built in manual helps, and if you ask a question in this board you will always get an answer within a couple of hours.

Re: Save block under new name [solved]
Don't rename just the blocks - please think about my explanation .... I have already done the renaming with three library entries and they look ok now. There is only one block entry if inserted with the library browser. To explode them is a lot more work. I have tried that as well but I cann...

Re: Save block under new name
Well after exploring a bit for myself I can make an educated guess about what happened. In the beginning I exported all library items from Autosketch by placing them on a drawing sheet and saving that as a dxf file. In QCAD I have made library blocks from them and named them different from the old A...

Re: Save block under new name
@Husky, thanks for the quick tutorial, now I understand how to do it. By the way, are you using Active Presenter to record your desktop? Unfortunately I have never paid attention to the block list in the past and by repeating what you have shown me I felt into another problem. I have not checked all...

Re: Save block under new name
Well I have worked a bit with the ideas given now. Especially with the duplicate function. Not so ergonomic or I still overlook something. Given situation: Two or more library blocks of the same kind (lets call it block7) on a complex drawing and I want to make changes to one of the three. I duplica...

Re: Edit block
Ok - now I understand what I have to do in case I have to rename a block. But I have no idea about the reason / working in the background. The model space is my drawing, and all the other items in the blocklist is virtually just the list of bits and pieces which are in the file, regardless if they a...

Re: Make Ctrl+Mouse wheel as Zoom?
Holding Wheel down = free panning (+zoom) As some others did report this too in the past: This is rather difficult without actually changing the zoom factor. But I don't have to agree with the 'wrong or right', 'Better', 'Common', 'a hell'. Regards, CVH You get used to holding wheel down - and you ...

Re: Edit block
The user manual would also come to the rescue: https://qcad.org/doc/qcad/latest/reference/en/index.php?page=scripts/Block/EditBlock/doc/EditBlock Yes, that's what I tell my colleagues as well sometimes - RTFM - 8) So I have read the manual but it doesn't helps me to find the reason why I#m not allo...

Re: Edit block
And I'm still a bit confused. Why can't I rename a block? Or which are the circumstances to allow me to rename a block?

Ups, sorry got it. Return to main drawing...
Didn't saw that as I was trying a right click on bits and pieces of the block and not on empty space.

Edit block
I like the new function "edit block in place" and because of that I have played around a bit with "edit block". Might be a bit sad as I'm working a couple of years with QCAD but I don't understand that function. Example - I make a drawing with a couple of blocks from the library and I make a right m...

Re: Edit Block In-place
I think I got the working / function wrong. I thought that was already very clear in the topics on library items we discussed in the past. You can retrace your steps by looking at your own posts. Click on your username ... Regards, CVH Yes and no as I have never used the function edit block. I gues...

Re: Make Ctrl+Mouse wheel as Zoom?
I'm a mouse guy but if it makes sense and if I'm faster I use the keyboard as well sometimes. After getting a bit used to CAD software which I use only some days and not daily I have to say that the actual behaviour fits perfect. Zooming in and out straight away with the mouse wheel and moving the d...
