Re: Working in Imperial inch fractions
Thank you Husky and CVH. At the moment I’m converting the drawings to use metric materials (in the UK imperial gauge steel sheet is no longer available- so I’m having to convert everything to work with metric thickness sheet). Then I need to get my head round “bending allowances” to make sure laser ...

Working in Imperial inch fractions
I am about to start several drawings for laser cutting mild steel components for miniature railway wagons. The drawings I am working from use imperial measurements such as: 3/32”, 1 1/16”, 7 9/64”, 1/2”, etc; I have always drawn in mm in CAD, so I may have to learn how to “draw” in imperial! Which w...

Re: What do people use QCAD for?
Hello I use QCAD for my railway modelling/model engineering in 7/8ths scale (1:13.7). Mainly for preparing drawings to be used for etched brass construction, as well as some water cutting and laser cutting. I have also produced elevations for some 3D components, which I will get 3D printed when I ha...

Re: Hatch Problems
CVH and Husky, thank you both for taking the time and trouble to help a CAD novice. My drawing habits have certainly created me (and you) a lot of issues, I need to be more careful with my drawing :) I have tried to work through my drawing myself to eliminate the issues that I have caused, so that I...

Re: Hatch Problems
I have been through and tried to get rid of all duplicates and set up all of the various shapes, etc; as polylines. I did discover that there are some parts of the drawing on one layer and parts on another, I haven’t been able to work out how to combine everything on to one layer though. But I’m not...

Re: Hatch Problems
CVH
Thank you for your help. I’ll work my way through the various entities to search out any duplicates.
With regard to line width, I always draw with a line width of 0.0, so hopefully this wouldn’t affect the size of the hatch for etching.
Regards
Kevin

Hatch Problems
I am having trouble getting hatch to work. I am doing a drawing for use in etching brass. This involves a lot of hatching (areas which are hatched get etched, areas which are not hatched remain as solid brass). When I started using hatch, selecting each segment before hatching started off ok, but af...

Re: Setting Number of Significant Figures for Dimension
Thank you for your help, I knew there had to be a setting somewhere! Couldn’t find it in the manual, but as usual the forum came up trumps....

Setting Number of Significant Figures for Dimension
I am having trouble with dimensions "rounding up" the dimension and cannot find anywhere to set the number of significant figures being displayed. As a specific example: I am off-setting lines at 10.195mm apart, but when I dimension the drawing, the off-set is shown as 10.2mm, i.e. it has been round...

Thank you for your prompt reply. My next task will be getting High Sierra to work. It failed the first time, which needed a complete rebuild!!

QCAD Pro Disk Image
I am looking at purchasing QCAD Pro once I have checked out a few features. Is the version sold online available as a disk image for Mac? I am going to upgrade from Sierra to High Sierra in a few months (when Apple have ironed out the bugs) and will probably do a clean install of the OS. So a disk i...
