That was just a reply from a spammer that was deleted before you reacted to the notification. Unfortunately there is nothing we can do to eliminate 100% of all spammers, a small portion always gets through and we simply delete those as quickly as possible. Thank you for the clarification. No proble...

Re: Installation - Guidance For Linux Novices

As an Ubuntu novice I successfully installed the software in my home folder last night after reading through your post and several others centec2b I am no guru in either Linux or Qcad, but here is my 2c: I think that the installation into your home directory is perfectly OK. I must have read somewh...

The Book.

Hi Andrew, After putting the Qcad aside for a few weeks, I started reading the book from cover to cover This morning I reached chapter 6. I started using qcad for some diagrams for a book of mine, but now decided to do the right thing - read your book first, rather than keep on reinventing the wheel...

Hi, Andrew!
Are you one of the developers of QCAD community edition?
BTW, I have received the printed paper copy of QCAD book, but have not had the time to study it yet.

Talking of typos, it's "bated breath".
You are absolutely right! (and I do not promise to improve, either. :) )

Typos

Andrew, I have not yet received your book (that I have ordered together with the QCAD-pro), but I will use this forum to "nit-pick" the manual. The manual that is incorporated in the qcad-pro program, says that to view the Layer List one needs to enter: View - Views - Layer List This should read: Vi...

Hi, Where can I get the source of the qcad-demo, or community qcad? Do you have a source code for an earlier version of qcad? OldAl I withdraw my question - I have downloaded the source tarball from RibbonSoft for version 2.0.5.0. So this is not so far behind the most recent (2.2.2.0) version and i...

Installation

There was a request for more detail on installation by "impert" in a thread called "Installation on Ubuntu 7.10" in this forum. I thought that it would be a good idea to generalise the method of installation to include other Linux distributions. My own installation and testing was on an PC box with ...

Hi, I just paid for the qcad-pro + book. So far very satisfied with the software (book is on the way and will take some time to get here). Where can I get the source of the qcad-demo, or community qcad? Do you have a source code for an earlier version of qcad? I am revising my structural analysis bo...

Changing dimension values and sizes of arrows.

In qcad pro what is the simplest way to 1. Change the size of arrows of a dimension; (It seems to be drawn in the scale of the object scale; Other CAD programs sometimes offer choice between paper plane and object plane fordimensions and title blocks, viz TurboCAD). 2. Can I change the dimension valu...

Does a change of the grid do what you need? It may not be exactly what you are used to, but the impression I have is that this is one way to change the snap size. Am I totally on the wrong track?

A typing mistake

I just started the evaluation of QCAD. I am very impressed with what I see! (But I have not yet seen much :) ). No doubt in the help pages there are typos. An example: In section 6.8 Modes, paragraph "Normal Mode" second last line is: if in normal more, you can ... Of course, it should read: if in n...

Craig,

Stay with it, mate! You are quitting far too soon. QCAD may yet prove it it's worth. AFAIK it is the only truly multiplatform CAD package (and I am only trying it at the moment :) )
