[solved] Dashed or Dotted Lines Appear Continuous

I'm drawing something too small for a dashed line to appear dashed - instead the line looks continuous. Is there anyway to adjust the length of the dashes of a dashed line - so they look - dashed?

Re: Paste command not working

That worked! Thank you Andrew!

As a side note - it's interesting that the invalid character remained in the scale field even after uninstalling and reinstalling QCAD. There must have been some type of configuration or settings file not deleted during the uninstall.

Re: Paste command not working

Unfortunately, this issue just began with my QCAD last night. This morning I tried many things to resolve the issue - including reinstalling with the latest version. I cannot "Copy with Reference" anymore. "Cut with Reference" doesn't work either. My layers are visible and not locked. As stated, I t...

How do I move this?

I don't know its proper name - so I took a screen capture of it. It's that little red circle with the cross inside - it tends to move around as I create lines and whatnot. Sometimes the object isn't where I'd like it to be and I get stuck. First off, what is its name? And, second, how can I move it ...

Re: How to Troubleshoot Non-Closed Polylines?

It's still hard for me to believe you produce something that is that small that Mil is an adequate unit. Except Watch parts or so but I'm sure you have your reasons for that ... I design mmW circuits. I've also have designed RFIC circuits - my large inductors were 300 to 400nm in diameter. Yes, nan...

Re: How to Troubleshoot Non-Closed Polylines?

I thought you needed to scale to hatch the part. For the past couple of decades I've been using AutoCAD with the other CAD program - that has been the work flow for importing shapes. It might be the case that there is a subtle difference between AutoCAD and QCAD - hard to say. But, for the past few ...

Re: How to Troubleshoot Non-Closed Polylines?

I copied (ctrl-c) and pasted (ctrl-v) from the original QCAD file to a new another (new) QCAD file - looks like the object got scaled. The width of the trace should be about 10.65 mil. The length you measure in the screen capture should be on the order of 0.16 inches. That aside any problem with the...

Re: How to Troubleshoot Non-Closed Polylines?

On the other hand I'm really impressed by the used unit! Is that correct? Is the other CAD able to read that? I probably should have used mils - but, yes, those units (inches) are correct. Yes, the other CAD program can read this - it has already imported all objects (very similar objects) except t...

Re: How to Troubleshoot Non-Closed Polylines?

Thanks for having a look. How can you tell if there's a gap? The structure needs to actually be closed. Every once in a while the ends of two polylines are so close - it becomes quite difficult to visually see the issue. My other CAD program is importing several very similar objects. Probably the ea...

How to Troubleshoot Non-Closed Polylines?

I've created a drawing in QCAD that I'm exporting into another CAD program. Everything but one object will import. I've spent a few hours looking carefully at this structure ( see attached QCAD file ) - but was unable to visually spot anything wrong. Next, I found this helpful post: https://www.qcad...

Is it possible to convert lines to closed polyline?

I've got a shape that I'm importing into another CAD program. I'd like to change the attached drawing to be a closed polyline. Is this possible? I noticed that I have the extension DXF for the file name. Should I save as a DWG file first? Thanks for your help! My System and QCAD version: Windows 10 ...

Set or Change Dimension Units to mil

I'm having trouble changing the displayed units of a dimension. Currently the units display as mm, but I'd like to display mil when annotating with the dimension tool. I have tried the following - but this didn't help: Edit --> Drawing Preferences -->General --> Drawing Unit --> set to "Mil" The att...

Setting Offset Distance - How?

I can't find the options toolbar to set the offset distance. Trying to follow instructions on page 109 of QCAD Book - they show how to create a polyline offset. Draw --> Polyline --> Offset Although I can create a polyline offset I'm stuck with whatever the default distance there is - I do not see a...
