Code: Select all

$ mv ~/.config/QCAD/QCAD3.conf /tmp

Re: Windows network drives slow

Seeing this too, I did some network sniffing: Opening a directory with eight entries, no subdirectories, in windows explorer gives 130 packets on the wire; opening another such directory in qCAD file browser makes for 600 packets - That may explain the difference in access speed. As a matter of fact...

Re: Updating without uninstalling manually

Yeah, but if I'd do it this way, I had already 13 QCAD installations or so. Funny to read this; I actually do NOT install on my Ubuntu System, but use the tgz instead, extract to /opt/ and symlink the new directory to /opt/qcad, so all shortcuts remain valid. I even had to revert, but maybe once or...

Very nice, nicer still, if the dialogue would remember the file type too!

(I never save bmp but png most of the time…)

Re: Older dxf-versions?

Mark, comparing CorelDraw and QCAD is not fair: they have quite different uses: artistic illustrations vs. technical drawings. I am aware, that CD is used a lot with eg. cutting plotters and precision seems to be good enough. Main difference though: a CAD drawing is not about aesthetics, but conveys...

Re: Storing user defined variables to dynamic parts

Here, with qCAD PRO, a quick test done: Each block reference can have custom properties on its own and different from other instances. (I suppose you did edit the block itself and all referenced instances did change, which of course is, what blocks are for, among other uses.) By key-value store, I r...

Re: Storing user defined variables to dynamic parts

I suppose, that you paste blocks into your drawing; Blocks can, like lines etc. have DXF x-data properties; QCAD has its very own key-value schema that is conveniently scriptable. Its up to you though, to create a user interface that is more specific to your application than the general property edi...
