Not sure if we are on the same page. I was referring to the property editor that can be enabled as widget:
View - Toolbars - Property Editor

This is not a dialog, it's a widget that stays visible and can be used immediately, without the need of choosing a menu or context menu,

Note that QCad uses the right mouse click to quickly cancel a tool or go back to the last step of a tool. You might want to enable the property editor to give you immediate access to the properties of one or more selected entities.

You can use relative coordinate input (e.g. @3,0, @3<30, ...) or use the "line with given angle" tool or draw a line that is longer than what you need and trim it later. Depends on your exact situation.

Note that many applications only support DXF R12 while QCad outputs DXF 2000 by default. You can save a file explicitly as DXF R12 by choosing that format in the file exporter. What can also cause problems for other applications are special characters in layer names, very long layer names, too many ...

Such an extension is not planned at the moment. However, it would be relatively easy to extend dxflib to support such additional fields.

Yes, 32bit/64bit is the problem.

Here's a starting point on the issue:
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/32bit_and_64bit

This should be solvable in general, but goes beyond my experience (I've used only 32bit platforms here until now).

I'm not sure how you can run a 32bit binary on a 64bit platform. You might want to ask people in some Linux forums or google for that. Anyway, that seems to be the issue here. You might have to install some compatibility libraries or such.

Nothing trivial then. Some more ideas:

What is the output of

Code: Select all

file ./qcad
ldd ./qcad
What is your exact version of Ubuntu and what is the output of

Code: Select all

uname -a

This should work: cd /usr/local/qcad-2.2.0.0-2-prof.linux.x86 ./qcad If not, there should be a more decent error message than "file not found", since the file "qcad" is definitely there and is executable. Please note that the manual you are referring to is outdated (QCad 1.x). The manual for QCad 2....

setup.sh definitely is not needed. There is no setup.sh script included with QCad.

Can you give me an "ls -la" from /usr/local/qcad-2.2.0.0-2-prof.linux.x86?
