Re: Corruption of existing drawing

After some origami this morning I found that the re-constituted curve does not sufficiently replicate the original. I suspect this is because I created the "apparently curved lines" from a combination of straight lines and splines, and the software will now attempt to create a single spline from the...

Re: Corruption of existing drawing

Husky, that works as you describe, thank you. I now have to check the shapes against the original curves.

Re: Corruption of existing drawing

Husky, I neglected to answer your query about the method of cutting out the panels. The free plans download at http://cnckayaks.com/shrike/downloads/ is provided in PDF format for those that wish to cut out the panels by hand, in .dxf for those who wish to use a CNC device, and in .dwg for those who...

Re: Corruption of existing drawing

Husky, many thanks for the information. I'll have a try at that procedure tomorrow evening. As regards the sea kayak kayak plans, we (my son and I) supply them to the world, open source and free of charge. So far, in the past three years, 4,000 copies of the plans have been downloaded, from Russia t...

Re: Corruption of existing drawing

Just to confirm that within Inkscape and the "layer export selection" menu I selected "All (default)"

Re: Corruption of existing drawing

Just for information of anyone faced with the same issue, I've used Inkscape to convert the PDF back to .dxf. It converted nicely, and just required re-scaling, but layers beyond 0 and 1 are missing. The missing layers include all the text. I'll keep trying. Ultimately I can recreate the original do...

Corruption of existing drawing

QCAD v. 3.17.3.0 Windows 10 Yesterday I pulled up a .dwg file from a year ago in order to make an alteration to the drawing. (Free open source plans for a sea kayak at http://www.cnckayaks.com) I found that the drawing was distorted at many points, particularly showing bulges where splines meet line...

Re: Black circles on pdf intersections

Husky, you've solved it, thank you. That's great detective work. I knew about the pdf size restriction, but my printer company told me that the white background showing the paper size on the 25% scale PDF had to match the QCad graphics area in size, and their printer would print both graphics and pa...

Re: Black circles on pdf intersections

Yes, I'll PM it to you, and it opens correctly. It's bed-time now in the UK, so many thanks for your continuing help, and I'll look back tomorrow.

Re: Black circles on pdf intersections

The commercial printer bed is 841 mm wide and I've already received a paper print from the company at 841 x 6600, and that is perfect for my purpose. That was printed from QCad Pro last week using "export to PDF" on the 25% scale .dwg, so something has changed since then. I've just used Zamzar.com t...

Re: Black circles on pdf intersections

The commercial print company I use asks for the documents in Adobe PDF, so I'm stuck at present. I'll look into alternative readers, and try to understand how to use them in QCad. I had reinstalled Adobe reader this morning in order to rule out that as a source of error.
Thanks for the reply

Re: Black circles on pdf intersections

Husky, when I now export this file to PDF the result is a blank representation of the white paper at the correct size, but no graphics. This occurred after removing "points" via Selection Filter. I am able to export other files to PDF from QCad. To attempt to fix this I have re-installed Adobe Acrob...

Re: Black circles on pdf intersections

I've now gone back a couple of stages, resaved the .dwg, saved to PDF and the black circles have disappeared, thank you.

I've just PM'd you the .dwg with the four points deleted, and the blank PDF.

Re: Black circles on pdf intersections

Husky, each time I now export to PDF all I get is a two blank page PDF. I've zoomed right out. I've tried it three times: File> Export as PFD > Save as (PFD)
There were just the four blue blobs on the four positions of the black discs. I deleted those, and the .dwg appears complete.
