Traditional CAD mouse pointer?

Has there been any demand for the 'standard' X/Y mouse pointer as an alternative to the standard mouse arrow pointer? http://pages.suddenlink.net/lenphilpot/img/XY_pointer.png Given my inexperience I can't enumerate any real advantages one way or the other, but it seems to be pretty popular in other...

Re: Just for fun - QCAD drawing challenge !!!

Thanks - The way I did it (in the CE) was highly repetitive, but that's often characteristic of CAD work anyway, from what I've seen. The repetition, practice and discipline are all worthwhile.

Re: Missing icons on the layer list

A few general questions: Does it happen on both themes (default and dark)? Have you tried renaming your QCAD profile, restarting QCAD and seeing if it still happens? Did you recently update your display driver? Your profile would be the folder C:\Users\ <account name> \Appdata\Roaming\QCAD (if I rem...

Re: Just for fun - QCAD drawing challenge !!!

So how does this look? It's not perfect -- I discovered (after I deleted the oblique geometry I would've needed for accuracy) that I hadn't drawn quite all the receding edges of the bricks around the top edge quite as far as I could've... but I wasn't going back and doing the copies all over again! ...

Re: Just for fun - QCAD drawing challenge !!!

Just saw this and it looked interesting. You've already done all the hard work! A few copies, rotates, mirrors, etc. and the front was complete. Hatching the interior space too longer. :) But can the 3D isometric projection be done with the community edition? I was able to do a projection of the fro...

Thanks for the clarification. Soon hopefully I'll have no reason to ignore them. :D

Re: Block questions

Believe it or not, I had actually read both of your links. But it's nice to get confirmation. So, a drawing is actually a "master block" in a sense, optionally containing other blocks in a nested hierarchical manner (so to speak). Makes sense now. I'll wait and see if anyone else (Andrew, maybe?) co...

Block questions

(I apologize for the flurry of posts, but I'm encountering things that make me go "Hmmm" ) I've come to realize I apparently have a fundamental misunderstanding of what constitutes a block. I've always thought a block was a named entity (or named group of related entities), optionally with a...

Re: Associative hatches?

That's why I asked... I had drawn a test rectangular shape on one layer, added a hatch on another, selected both and stretched them, but only the lines stretched. The hatch remained the same shape and size. That made me wonder. But I just tried it again and this time it worked. Obviously I did somet...

Associative hatches?

Does QCAD support associative hatches? Or is there another technique to (effectively) resize a hatch, e.g., after stretching a hatched entity? I thought I saw this question somewhere on the forums, but no amount of searching turned it up. I also searched the website for hatch and associative but fou...

Re: Belated hello

Well, if I were learning CAD with a view toward a career in it (which at this point in my life is waaay past :D), I'd probably bite the bullet and concentrate on DraftSight (or one of the other AutoCAD 2D clones) then move to 3D, since that's apparently where the jobs are. However, that being said, ...

Belated hello

Now that I've posted a few times, I guess I should say hello. I'm a hobbyist-level enthusiast in the deep south USA (Louisiana) who uses CAD for small personal projects and such. I've tried DraftSight, nanoCAD, DoubleCAD and a few others. While they're fine programs, QCAD seems to be a very n...

Re: 3.19 install fails on Windows 10

OK, I had to re-enable the administrator account, login and run the installer. QCAD installed then, but why wouldn't it work before? On another Win 10 laptop (with 3.18 at least) I ran into no such issues. I'll see if it happens when I take it to 3.19. This particular laptop was built up and then at...

3.19 install fails on Windows 10

Trying to install 64-bit 3.19 on my Windows 10 1703 laptop. No matter whether I run the MSI as my account (which is an administrator) or launch a command shell as administrator and run the MSI from there, I still get an error stating: " The installer has insufficient privileges to access this direct...
