Re: Belated hello

Well, if I were learning CAD with a view toward a career in it (which at this point in my life is waaay past :D), I'd probably bite the bullet and concentrate on DraftSight (or one of the other AutoCAD 2D clones) then move to 3D, since that's apparently where the jobs are. However, that being said, ...

Belated hello

Now that I've posted a few times, I guess I should say hello. I'm a hobbyist-level enthusiast in the deep south USA (Louisiana) who uses CAD for small personal projects and such. I've tried DraftSight, nanoCAD, DoubleCAD and a few others. While they're fine programs, QCAD seems to be a very n...

Re: 3.19 install fails on Windows 10

OK, I had to re-enable the administrator account, login and run the installer. QCAD installed then, but why wouldn't it work before? On another Win 10 laptop (with 3.18 at least) I ran into no such issues. I'll see if it happens when I take it to 3.19. This particular laptop was built up and then at...

3.19 install fails on Windows 10

Trying to install 64-bit 3.19 on my Windows 10 1703 laptop. No matter whether I run the MSI as my account (which is an administrator) or launch a command shell as administrator and run the MSI from there, I still get an error stating: " The installer has insufficient privileges to access this direct...

Re: Dimension label font in free version

Did anybody encounter this bug? Two years later, but yes - I see it, too with QCAD CE 3.18.1 x64 (on Xubuntu 16.04 64-bit). Technically, I guess it's a bug since it's "spontaneous" behavior, but actually the font that shows up after applying drawing preferences is preferable to me. I wish it would ...

Husky wrote:No. There is a short cut (ctrl+I) to open Drawing Preferences but then you have to navigate to View Ports manually.
Fair enough - Thanks.

Re: Drawing Preferences - four viewports? (solved)

Is there a hot key or other means to quickly add/remove viewport(s) other than going into Preferences? I see keys for managing views themselves (VA, VR, etc.), but not viewports

Thanks.

Re: Possible to lock / dock toolbars?

Note: Every setting, layout in QCAD will be saved automatically in a file called qcad3.ini in the moment when you close QCAD. Maybe it would be a good idea during this "learning curve" to backup this file and use it in the case that you accidentally busted your layout. Yep. I have a zipped backup o...

Possible to lock / dock toolbars?

I seem to have a unerring knack for accidentally dragging my carefully-placed toolbars away from where they were carefully placed. Is it possible to dock (or otherwise lock down) toolbar positions? Dunno if it makes any difference, but I'm currently using the community edition.* * I put QCAD Pro on ...

Re: Printable manual?

OK, I see. I thought the QCAD book was an "additional" publication, like a 3rd party book, but it is the manual. Curious - If I wanted both PDF and printed book would I have to separately purchase each? Or does buying the printed book entitle the purchaser to the PDF as well? I really prefer reading...

Printable manual?

I know the user reference maunal is at https://www.qcad.org/rsforum/viewforum.php?f=76, which is fine in terms of content, but is there a PDF or single page version that's printable? I found the 2.2 manual online but nothing for 3.x. Apologies if this is FAQ, but I searched and didn't find anything....
