Hello, I had never thought of shortening a line this way, but nevertheless I had a go and indeed I got the same results. (2.2 pro on Win XP3). It works as long as the shortening is less than half of the length of the line. I'm not sure how Qcad interprets the calculation in that case, a look at the ...

An A3 is 420x297. Therefore your 1/1 drawing must fit on that. Then, you print at a reduced scale if you like. I have been making drawings at all formats up to A0. I made custom templates for each sizes, the template is just like any other component block you insert in your drawing. For large sizes,...

Thanks for the reply. I do exactly the same as far as layer organization and generally it works. In fact, if my boundary had not been right, hatching would not have worked at all. It's just that on this occurrence, I have a couple lines that cross the boundary. I believe it is not possible to add an...

Read the manual again!

Hello, here's my experience of a new Cad user... I purchased QCAD Pro and Andrew's book almost two years ago. I have been using the program quite succesfully since. These last few days, I decided to go through the book again, I was amazed to discover a lot features and tools that I had overlooked an...

Strange behavior during hatching

Hello, I created a hatch area using the method described in the manual, i.e. copying the contour to a specific layer...The hatching parameters are scale:1, angle 180. I do obtain hatches, but curiously three hatch lines cross the boundary. I get the same effect if I change the hatch direction to 90....

Sometimes, it would be handy to be able to specify a streching direction along a line at an angle. The difficulty is mainly with the selection rectangle which cannot then select the needed entities...

auto layers

I cobbled up a work around using a script that creates a set of layers. I do have to press an icon in the toolbar to launch the process. However I have not found how to define the line type! But it's fast.

Thanks for the reply, I'll re-install version 2.2.2.0. I found that going down the directory tree from C:, rather than trying to go up, would not produce the crashes when using "save as".
Looking forward to version 3!
Thanks
