I am running Linux Mint 22.1 on a new PC. My old PC, now decommissioned, also ran Linus Mint and I had QCAD 3.28.2 Pro installed on it and running just fine. I still have the .run file for it and tried installing it on my new PC, but after a long wait processing thousands of lines it stopped with an error "There was a problem opening the file qcad-3.....run", referring to the file it had just been processing. Assuming that the .run file might now be out of date, I downloaded the 3.32.4 trial version and set the .run file installing. Again, this processed thousands of lines and then stopped with the same error message that it could not find the .run file it was processing.
I then tried downloading the .tar.gz version of 3.32.4 trial and unpacked it. I can run the QCAD file in there and the application starts up and seems to run fine.
Am I doing something wrong with the .run files, or is there a problem with them. I am reluctant to purchase the Pro version of QCAD 3.32.4 if that installation file is going to abort with the same error message as the trial version.
Please advise.
David

Re: Failed installation of trial version
Please follow our installation instructions at:
https://qcad.org/en/documentation/installation
You are likely simply double-clicking the installer file. This will not work if your system is configured to open .run files with a text editor of sorts. You need to execute the file instead.
If you cannot solve the problem, please include the output / screenshot / warning, etc. in your message, thanks.

Re: Failed installation of trial version
Many thanks for the very helpful link. The installation via the terminal worked perfectly.
