Nice and powerful, but veeeeery slow on big files

Could it be that the bottleneck is the 64 vs 32 bit OS?
Re: Nice and powerful, but veeeeery slow on big files
That is what I thought ....
What has the Grid / Meta Grid Spacing to do with a zoom level?
Work smart, not hard: QCad Pro
Win10/64, QcadPro, QcadCam version: Current.

Re: Nice and powerful, but veeeeery slow on big files
When the zoom level changes to 10<100 and beyond less texts are in the viewwindow and more screen updates are made.
The texts in the example become readable in the 5th level passing from 100<1000 to 10<100.
It's not the zoom level but how many texts items that are in the picture that slows the system.
If they are all +2400 on the screen the only thing we see are 2 or 3 pixels per item.
Slowing the system to render them all makes no sence.

Re: Nice and powerful, but veeeeery slow on big files
I'm quite surprised by the performance issues expressed here. I have a 4MB DXF file that opens in about 10 seconds and doesn't slow down QCAD at all. The file contains 10400 entities on 9 layers.
Re: Nice and powerful, but veeeeery slow on big files
While I've definitely bumped into the VERY large file issue, things I've done that have minimized its effects:
Increase computer memory. On my Mac, at home, I have 16-24GB of RAM (depends if I have Parallels running as I allow 8GB for that).
If possible, break the drawing down into smaller chunks. That is, if there are plan, section and elevation views, perhaps making those separate files will cut things down.
Turn off graphic intensive layers and definitely get rid of any unneeded layers.
