Moving fit points within splines

Perhaps there is a way to do this and i missed it.
It would be nice to be able to select a given fit point or node and once selected, toggle it along either X or Y axis with a key stroke. The thought is you could set the step of each key stroke along the axis.
So you'd select the node, set the step guide as .0625, .125, 1" or to the moon. Perhaps "X" key for the X axis. "O" to return to return to origin.
Just a thought, might already be in the mix.
