Suggestion: Change fonts

Post by YAMANEKO » Thu Apr 27, 2023 12:49 pm

Please make possible to change fonts of the command line, property editor and so on.
Especially on Japanese Windows, the default system font are very ugly and unsuitable for applications like CAD.
Just for reference, I made a personal patch below.

Could you maybe post a screenshot of QCAD on your system with and without the stylesheet? Thanks.

On Windows 11, QCAD 3.28.1.0 it works for me as a new (light) theme but not with the Dark theme, which I use. I tried making a copy of Dark and adding the two tags (only) to its existing stylesheet, but it turns light and doesn't use the monospace font. Apparently that theme uses a plugin and this doesn't work with plugins.

At any rate, editing the Program Files folder really isn't the ideal way to do it, but I don't know if QCAD supports user themes.

Here are the screenshots.
The default system font of Japanese Windows, MS UI Gothic is so ugly. Its period and comma are too difficult to see. So my new theme change it to Consolas.

@ lphilpot:
The QCAD Dark theme uses hard coded things here and there.
A stylesheet will not supersede that.

@ YAMANEKO:
Have you considered the QCAD theme designer by petevick (Pete):

Thank you for your advice.
Unfortunately that tool didn't work on my PC. It gets only a black window appears momentarily and an alarm sounds.

Would it then not make sense to change the default font in your Japanese Windows? On that way you can kill two birds with one stone ...
Work smart, not hard: QCad Pro
Win10/64, QcadPro, QcadCam version: Current.
If a thread is considered as "solved" please change the title of the first post to "[solved] Title..."

Unfortunately it's not a good option. This is because most Japanese apps are designed to be displayed with the default font, and changing it carelessly, the layouts will be collapsed.
Also, in Japanese Windows environment, many apps such as Visual Studio, Excel and so on does not use system default fonts. It is common for each apps use more pellucid fonts voluntarily.
