[Solved] Some Paper Space questions

Post by BertMv » Fri Sep 30, 2022 12:08 pm

Hi all,

Just starting out in QCAD coming from AutoCAD (but not having used it for about 10 years now I think).
I have some questions about Paper Space:

1. Can one get rid of the blue border?
2. Can I assign different paper-sizes to each Paper Space?
2. How is Paper Space (and Model Space) a block?

In regard to 2), what I am trying to do is create multiple layouts (paper spaces) but the drawings settings only lets me define 1 paper size. All extra layouts seem to default to A1 portrait?
In regard to 3), this confuses me. What exactly is the block that makes up model/paper space? (does it have properties/entities?) I am asking since in AutoCAD these are called Working Environments and have no relation to blocks (afaic). I'm trying to understand their relation in QCAD.

Thank you.

The blue border indicates the printable area or the glue margins when stitching multiple papers together.
You can set these margins to zero if you prefer:
Edit > Drawing Preferences > Printing > Multi Pages > Glue Margins

Yes, changing the paper size while editing a layout block (paper space) only changes the paper size for that layout block.

Technically, they are blocks but might be presented as something separate to the user in other CAD systems.

Please post one question per topic in the future to keep unrelated discussions separated (see also forum rules at the top), thanks.
