Can one rotate modelspace?
Use case:
* I sometimes want to work on a drawing of a structure with with north up in modelspace, sometimes align it so that a particular site boundary is vertical, and sometimes align a particular structure wall as vertical.
I realize I can at least *see* things from a different perspective if I make a viewport and rotate what's in it. But unless I'm missing something, I can't *work* within that viewport as in AutoCAD.
I realize I can also rotate all elements in a drawing, but after turning all layers on, rotating, reselecting the layers I want visible, I find myself wondering if there's a more direct way.
Thanks,
New-ish user/transfer from AutoCAD, with QCAD Pro 3.32.4.0 on Windows11 (also MacOS M2 with Sequoia 15.6.1)
rotate not element, but modelspace itself?

Re: rotate not element, but modelspace itself?
Hi,
A Viewport is a single drawing entity and essentially a window on Model_Space ... Not a full copy of Model_Space.
I can envision situations where "Edit Viewport in-place" of a limited view may corrupt Model_Space.
QCAD does not support a UCS, see related topic
As answers to your other post:
Different settings for layer attributes are best handled with Layer States.
But there is no association with Viewports or Paper_Space Blocks.
QCAD is basically 2D, there no other viewing angle than top view from Z = +infinite.
A Viewport is not created from a selection, there is no need to alter such a selection.
Regards,
CVH
