Ver 3.29, Win 64bit
Hi everyone, hope you are all well, I'd like to ask a couple of questions please
After selecting a line, I'm wondering how to interpret the "Angle" reading in the property editor
a) is it degrees, and if yes, what is the angle "relative to"?
b) has anyone else found the readings to be inconsistent? If yes, what are the different possible causes of this?
(Pls note while attempting to troubleshoot I've flattened the drawing but this did not resolve my question)
Basically am I doing something wrong..
Thanks for any help
Robert

Re: Angle readings in Property Editor
A1) Yes, the GUI angle notation is in degrees.
Angular Dimension entities can be expressed in degrees, gradians or radians by Drawing Preferences.
A2) Relative from start- to endpoint of a Line entity.
... or Base point to Second point for Ray's and Infinite Lines.
When selected the reference marker of a start point of a limited line is red and that for the endpoint is blue (Configurable by App.Prefs.).
Both blue for Ray's and Infinite Lines and the starting point is less obvious for the latter.
B) No, the Math behind is 'the angle from one point to another' or the angle of the vector that points from the start- to the endpoint.
Any Z component won't matter for the orientation in 2D.
The Length property is affected by Z not zero.
Please provide a drawing example with such 'inconsistent' angles.
If a limited line is drawn in reverse one can simply swap begin and end point with Modify .. Reverse (RV)

Re: Angle readings in Property Editor
Thanks for the explanation CVH - "inconsistencies" now understood - thanks
