Dear Sir,
I have just bought the QCAD 2D system and already start working with it.
Once finished creating the simple item (see attached drawing Bolt no. 1), I tried to put some dimensions on it, and encountered some troubles.
1. I am trying to create dimensions according to the instructions in the user manual, (For example: p. 188) and when trying to locate the dimension line (step 3, p. 188) nothing happened, it remained frozen.
2. I am trying to move the dimensions according to the instructions in the user manual, (p. 200-201), but I could not move it according to steps 3-8.
• The operating system on my laptop is: Windows 10 Home
• My Qcad version is 3.21.2, build date: Jult-9-2018
Please help!!
Thank you,
Moshe Bram

Re: Dimensioning
Most likely, QCAD simply cannot find any position to snap to due to your snap settings.
1. Switch off the isometric grid:
Edit > Drawing Preferences > General > Grid > Viewport 1:
uncheck "Isometric Grid" and check "Display Grid" 2. Check your auto snap settings:
Edit > Application Preferences > Snap > Auto Snap
Recommended settings: If you for example disallow free positioning and grid points, you cannot click any coordinate anymore, expect end points, center points, etc.

Dear Andrew,
Thank you for the prompt response.
I have checked the GRID and the AUTOSNAP in my system; it is the same as you showed here.
Check again my problem, still exists.
Please help,
Moshe Bram

Re: Dimensioning
So let's say you start the dimension tool for horizontal dimensions:
1. Dimension > Horizontal
2. You then click a point, let's say somewhere at the left of the bolt: 3. And then a point somewhere at the right: Now comes the step in which you define where the dimension line is:
4. Click any point somewhere above the bolt drawing, for example on a grid point or in between the grid: The dimension should now be created and you can terminate the tool (right-click).
Can you describe to me at which step (1-4) the problem occurs and what exactly happens?

Re: Dimensioning
Dear Abdrew,
Thank you for your patience, I really appreciate it!!
I followed your steps and it really worked.
Now I understand my mistake; I was trying to define the points to draw the dimensions lines from, by using the End, Middle or Intersection. Trying to do so confused the system...
Thank you again!!
