How to move an object a specific distance

I have been trying to move a rectangle a specific distance along a line. I have tried the "Cut with Reference" command, can pick the reference point to move from however when I hit " CTL V" to place it asks for a location. I have tried, on the command line, "@ distance < degree, and nothing happens.
What is the proper sequence to choose an object, the point you want to move it from, and tell the program where to move it too?

Assuming you will move the rectangle along an angled line and your "Auto Snap settings" include "Snap to Entity"

Select rectangle,
launch "Move/Copy,
select Reference point,
launch the "Restrict Angle or Length" tool,
set distance in the option bar,
Move your Mouse pointer along the line and click to confirm.

Note: If you set the distance e.g. to 5 it will snap to distances like 5, 10 15, 20 etc. etc.
