Edit Viewport Layers

Post by seasdes » Fri Jul 16, 2021 5:25 am

Is there a way to edit the layers displayed in one of my viewports?

Yes.
Work smart, not hard: QCad Pro
Win10/64, QcadPro, QcadCam version: Current.

Re: Edit Viewport Layers

Post by Circle » Thu Jul 22, 2021 3:06 pm

I have noticed that if I select a Viewport and then turn layers on or off, while the Viewport is selected. All the other Viewports are affected. I looked at the Viewport Property Editor and do not see any method for managing the layers in one Viewport only?

When selecting a Viewport, I see that in the Property Editor, the Selection is titled Viewport[1]. I am wondering if this is my error? I am not creating different Viewports?

How do I create a separate Viewport so that each Viewport can have its own Layer configuration?

Thanks

I can confirm that this is not supported in QCAD.

But "Layer States" provide a nice workaround ...

I experimented with "Layer States", creating multiple layers with different layers on and off.

Created a series of Viewports in the paper mode, but noticed that changing the selection of layer states affected all viewports simultaneously.

How would you use Layer States to give finer control over Viewports?

Thanks.

An example dxf or screenshot would make it much easier to see what you are trying to archive!

Correct. What's about to duplicate the layer which is used in both viewports and then use the original one in Viewport one and the duplicate in Viewport two?

Thanks everyone for your input.

A project that I am working on involves the alterations and additions to a building. For planning purposes and to avoid duplication of entities, each layer is superimposed on top of each other as exists in the real world (The screen clip shows this).

I have been using layer states to control the visibility of layers (The screen clip shows this).

Now when printing drawings I need to print different views on the one sheet. Ie site plan, lower floor plan, upper floor plan, elevations and section. Each of these views will be shown in different viewports.

Any simple workarounds would be appreciated. Ideally I would like to be able to create viewports from layer states
