I have two different layouts that I'm working on using some of the same blocks. I have the two layouts on two different layers . . . but each time I place the 2nd copy of a block in a new position for the 2nd layout, it ends up on the same layer as the 1st copy of that block. There's a complex background on multiple layers that is the same for both layouts.
How do I get the 2nd copy of the block to go on the 2nd layout layer?
My guess is that I'm missing something obvious here
System is QCAD Pro 3.25.2 running on OpenSUSE Linux
Thanks!
Dan

Hi,
If I'm right then make sure that before you paste the clipboard content to the drawing the "Target" layer is active and during inserting the option "To current Layer" is ticked.
If I'm wrong please enlighten me.
Sounds to me you are NOT using the Block List to insert the block. You are using the clipboard (copy/paste) instead . Correct?

Work smart, not hard: QCad Pro
Win10/64, QcadPro, QcadCam version: Current.

Re: Place 2 copies of a block on 2 layers?
Hmmm . . . this didn't work either.
Then I realized that the block DEFINITION was drawn on one of the layout layers . . . and when I turned it off, all the references to that block disappeared! So the reference I was inserting was indeed on the correct layer, but when I turned off the other layout layer .... all the blocks disappeared.
So what I did was to move ALL the block definitions to layer 0 (which I normally don't use), and the layout layers work as expected.
There's a "best practices" question here - where should the block definitions be? but I'll start a new thread for that.
Thanks!
