[solved]Suppress leading zeros

Post by plan-b » Wed May 18, 2022 9:09 am

Is there a solution to suppress leading zeros in dimensions?
And the comma or dot when there is no zero.

Yes and no.

Please post a screenshot and/or drawing file where we can see your goals. Thanks.

To save space on the dimension lines and to keep the drawing clearer I would like to have all dimensions below 1m written as cm. So without zero and dot in front of it.
I post a screenshot and the drawing file.

My initial thought is you could convert your drawing units from meter to cm, but then your dimensions greater than one meter would also be expressed in centimeters. Besides that, I don't know of any automatic option to accomplish your goal. Otherwise you'd have to manually re-write the dimensions that you want to look different than they do now. But perhaps someone else has an idea I have neglected to see.

And how will somebody who reads the drawing know what is meter and what is cm ...? It sounds to me that you replace a little problem with a much bigger one ...

Howsoever - to archive this unusual goal you could select all dims in question, explode them and overwrite the value.
To make it semi automatic use the Selection Filter, search and select all dims with a value less than 1, use the QCAD Find/Replace tool to replace zero dot with nothing.

Note: An exploded dim will loose all automatic dim function irreversible.

Thanks for the answers. It is common here to specify the dimensions under 1m in cm. It is easy to see on the drawing if the distance is 50cm or 50m.
I solved the problem by marking all dimensions with the same value and changing the label. It was easier with the selection filter than I thought.
Thanks a lot

If that is a thing in your country maybe it is worth to file a feature request below:

Or you select the dims in question with the Selection Filter and change their properties in the Property Editor ("Linear measurement factor" to 100 and "decimal places" to 0) . In this case you don't have to explode the dimensions and all functionality remains.
Ich will nicht streiten. Ich will nur deutlich machen, dass ich Recht habe und DU NICHT.

That seems a great solution TSG
