[Solved] Gray logo disappears in print

Post by omarfilip » Thu Apr 13, 2023 6:10 am

I've imported a .png image that includes white text and a gray logo. When printing (or print previewing) the gray logo disappears. The drawing has two png files - one is the logo in the foreground, and the other is a dark image of a texture in the background. Everything prints OK except the gray part of the logo. I've tried a few different settings for Application Prefs > Graphics view > Appearance > Color adjustment, but no luck. What could I be doing wrong?

Mac OS 13.3.1
QCad Pro 3.28.1.0

The png image placed in the drawing - you can see the gray logo and a part of the "G" from the text:

Print preview on a dark background - the gray logo disappeared:

As printed - white text and the texture background show, but no gray logo:

Hi omarfilip,

to help you efficiently please attache the drawing or an example drawing which shows the same issue to your posting. On that way we can see exactly what is going on. Thanks.
Work smart, not hard: QCad Pro
Win10/64, QcadPro, QcadCam version: Current.
If a thread is considered as "solved" please change the title of the first post to "[solved] Title..."

Hi,

Questionable if I would take such a plane ...

Questions:
- Is the text "PASSAGERS WARNING ..." in the same gray color as the logo?
- "GLASTAR ..." is probably white and the rest is transparent, right?

I can only guess that it might have to do with color replacements avoiding "black over black"/"white over white".
I also think that we can help you better with an example file.
Remind to include the PNG or other bitmap files because these are not stored in a dxf.

Regards,
CVH

I had just created a simplified version of the drawing for @Husky that includes only the elements that show this issue and saw the question from @CVH about the colors, and in checking the colors in the Illustrator file I found that the gray was a transparency value of black instead of a defined color. Once I replaced that with a RGB gray value and reimported the image into QCad, the logo showed up as expected. The text is white. I am going to adjust the colors tomorrow, but here's what it looks like now:

Thank you both for taking the time to have a look.

As for the passenger warning - it is an FAA requirement in the U.S. for homebuilt airplanes, but it is a misnomer because the amateur-built airplanes get more attention by the builder than a factory produced airplane, and thus are usually of higher quality than the ones that come off an assembly line. Have a look at some examples here:

Hi,

So, just asking the right questions was partially the answer ...

The last screenshot looks already fantastic compared with <logo-missing.jpg>.
As for the passenger warning - I do understand all that but still question if 'more attention' is a good enough practice.
I see things on the Kitplanes site that gives me goosebumps, but let it be.

If considered as being solved, please add '[Solved]' to your first post title by editing it.
Also see Husky's postings footnote in blue.
