I'm afraid that's not my area of expertise. Perhaps someone else can help with this?
Re: 3 d printing
Hello Ross,
However, cornerstones for 3D printing is:
You need the printer,
You need a 3D CAD Software which is able to produce .stl File formats. In this software you have to create your 3D models. QCAD is 2D and can't do that.
You need a slicer software which is able to read the .stl format and then it has to create the g-code for the printer.
Your printer needs a controller which is able to understand the g-code which is then used to move the x, y, z axis and also to control the extruder with the filament.
I don't know how professional you will go but there are many Open source and Freeware Products out there to cover your software needs. This is a quick search for printer slicer ...

Maybe they are more working file formats out there - just make sure that every link in your tool chain understands that format!
Good luck!
Sorry, I guess I sit on the same bench like Andrew ...andrew wrote:I'm afraid that's not my area of expertise.

Hi Ross,
I do sometimes use QCAD to draw DXF and then use OpenSCAD to do a simple linear extrude and create .stl for 3Dp.
