Hello,
I have this problem a couple of times.
I am talking about files that collaborators send me and I cannot open them correct.
One example is the following.
The dwg file "Schnitt KH.dwg".
When I open it the only things I can see are the ones like in the pdf attached also.
Because I definitely had to open it I downloaded another program (draftsight) I opened it, copied all entries and paste them in a new file in draftsight, then saved the new file and after that the QCAD opened the new file perfectly. (the new file is the "Darmstadt-Section.dwg")
I am using UBUNTU 16.04 LTS
QCAD version 3.14.3.0 (3.14.3)
Do you have any idea why this happens?
Thank you

Re: DWG file not showing right
Hello mihanolis - welcome to the QCAD Forum,
The drawing "Schnitt KH.dwg" has 3D entities - QCAD is a 2D Program and not able to display 3D Properties correctly.mihanolis wrote:Do you have any idea why this happens?
Work smart, not hard: QCad Pro
Win10/64, QcadPro, QcadCam version: Current.

Re: DWG file not showing right
Thank you for the reply,
although the draftsight with which I finally opened the file is also 2D.
Could it be any kind of setting.
Because when I open the file "Schnitt KH.dwg" in draftsight, it opens in another TAB than the "MODEL" tab. (you know it has tabs like autocad, It opens in the tab as if it is print preview).

Re: DWG file not showing right
The drawing uses an alternative coordinate system on the YZ plane and then transforms entities back onto the XY plane. The coordinates in the file are mostly on the YZ plane. Although the result happens to be 2D and on the XY plane, the original coordinates are in 3D and require 3D transformations which is currently not supported in QCAD.
Re: DWG file not showing right
These transformations might be applied while loading a file in the future. The result of course being strictly 2D.Rentley wrote:Hi Andrew, you said "currently." Are there plans to support 3D transformations in the future? I'm just curious.
Re: DWG file not showing right
That would be very helpfull.andrew wrote:These transformations might be applied while loading a file in the future. The result of course being strictly 2D.
It would actually a good reason to buy that new version of QCAD
Thank you for your answers
