Re: Linux mint and qcad 3.27.5
How far did you get, did you get any error messages?? Did the QCAD Professional 3.27.5 for Linux 64bit have a .run extension, did you make sure that the Execute file permission was checked, you also have to select to install via the terminal.
I run Linux 20.3 on a desktop pc, but I use the QT build - QCAD Professional 3.27.5 for Linux Qt 5.14 64bit (Installer) with no issues.

Edproc: you can find our installation instructions at:
https://www.qcad.org/en/documentation/installation
If you can't get it to work, we need a much more detailed report with the steps you took and the error messages you got, thanks.

Maybe I'll try this way?petevick wrote: ↑Mon May 16, 2022 8:30 pmHow far did you get, did you get any error messages?? Thanks for your answer.
How did I proceed: for the two files I've downloaded, I've been following the instructions I found on the Qcad site.
The terminal way got it working, but it was not installed! So, when I closed the program, I did not find it any where in the PC. I had to start again the installation on the terminal, with the same problem when I closed it.
Using the .run way, after authorization for program use, I double clicked, but no installation came. I had a window open where things where very slow. After a few minutes, the window crashed.
I've tried the 2 ways a few times with same results.

Re: Linux mint and qcad 3.27.5
Perhaps, you expect something from the installer that it does not do. Linux does not have a uniform way of installing software. QCAD is installed under your home directory for example under ~/opt/qcad-3.27.5-pro-linux-x86_64
To run it from a terminal:
On some window managers, you might get a desktop icon after installation on others, you don't.
To run it from a terminal:
Code: Select all
cd ~/opt/qcad-3.27.5-pro-linux-x86_64
./qcad

I've tried that of course.
The program worked, but was not installed.

cd ~/opt/qcad-3.27.5-pro-linux-x86_64
./qcad

Re: Linux mint and qcad 3.27.5
Can you please elaborate? What exactly do you mean by "not installed"? If you can run it with
This would indeed indicate that QCAD is properly installed under ~/opt/qcad-3.27.5-pro-linux-x86_64.
Code: Select all
cd ~/opt/qcad-3.27.5-pro-linux-x86_64
./qcad
Re: Linux mint and qcad 3.27.5
Also it may be that on your system QCAD was installed, but menu / desktop icons ("desktop" files) were not created for your interface. If that's the case, their location might be fairly specific to your flavor of Linux. Most Linux distributions create application shortcuts which are based on the FreeDesktop standard, but not all. They might be on your desktop, in a "start" menu, on a dock, etc.
Have you tried adding an icon to your desktop and in the settings for the icon specifying the qcad executable file (wherever it got installed) as the file to run?
